Why Dragon Ball Z?

To answer the question above with another question... why the hell not!? The Dragon Ball franchise is not only asthetically pleasing, but it is also an awesome story. The fight scenes are incredible, and the special moves and transformations are the things that make you crave that next episode. I remember when I was introduced to Dragon Ball. I was in 4th or 5th grade and when I came home from school my dad said "Son! You have got to watch this show that I saw today on t.v. It was about a boy going on these adventures and it had awesome fights in it. The same episode I watched today comes on tonight at 11:00 p.m. on Toonami. You're staying up for it."

That night, my dad and I watched that Dragon Ball episode and I was hooked. There really was no looking back after that point. We would catch the show as often as we possibly could. Then, we found out there was another series, called Dragon Ball Z, which is the continuation of Dragon Ball, set when Goku was an adult. He married Chi Chi, had a son, Gohan, and...well, I could get into a LOT of detail about who came from where and how everyone ended up where they are now, but I have other projects to work on. For now, I hope you enjoy checking out some sweet pictures, short bios, and cool moves of some pretty cool characters in Dragon Ball!

Goku

Goku

Goku is the main character in the Dragon Ball franchise. In Dragon Ball, he is just a boy, but in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, he is an adult. He is married to Chi Chi and has 2 sons: Gohan and Goten. Throughout the franchise he is faced with an incredible amount of difficulty, but seems to always come out on top (some like to say this is because Akira Toriama - who is the Dragon Ball creator/writer - wants to keep Goku on top, as he is the main character). Goku loves to fight, and train to fight. He likes it so much it is basically all he thinks about. In Dragon Ball Super, he accidentally puts the existence of universes at stake just for the sake of fighting. He has some of the most amazing transformations in the entire franchise and is easily recognized as one of the greatest anime characters of all time (NO BIAS!). His downside: he's kind of an idiot.

Vegeta

Vegeta

Vegeta is one of the most badass characters. He is mean, but he also cares about the rest of the group (though I don't think you will ever get him to admit that). He is ruthless. He is the type of guy who will come in with 100% and won't let up. He used to be a bad guy destined to rule the universe, but he changed his ways over the years after the battle with Goku, and then having a mutual foe (Frieza). It was either work together, or everyone dies. I like Vegeta because of his "don't care" attitude. He does whatever he wants, however he wants, and he doesn't care what anyone thinks about him. He is the Prince of all Saiyans. He falls in love with Bulma, they have a boy named Trunks, and a girl named Bulla. He has awesome techniques and is a hard hitter.

Piccolo

Piccolo

Getting pictures of Piccolo was a little bit of tricky one. His overall appearance does not change a ton over the series, but he gains an incredible amount of strength. This is not seen much in physical appearance, but more in fighting ability and sheer badassery. Piccolo's power increased significantly when he merged with Nail in the Frieza Saga, and even more so when he merged with Kami in the Imperfect Cell Saga. He is one of the most strategic fighters in all of the Dragon Ball franchise. He has some sweet Namekian skills, like being able to regenerate (he can lose an arm, and grow it back in a few minutes - though this does use up a substantial amount of his energy). He can stretch his arms very far and wrap them around the enemy to subdue them. He also fights in the white outfit and hat most of the time, which is just a bunch of weights (they are extremely heavy weights). When he takes those off, shit's about to go down!

Gohan

Gohan

Gohan is Goku's first son. His true potential is unknown. He first became a superstar in the Perfect Cell saga. Goku and Gohan trained in the Hyperballic Time Chamber for 3 days (which equates to 3 years within the Chamber). Gohan was able to become a Super Saiyan, and when they both came out their hair was no longer black, but instead blond. A Saiyan's hair is always black, unless they transform into a Super Saiyan or above, where it will change colors. They had trained staying in the Super Saiyan state for so long that their hair stayed blond even in their base form. Then, Goku battled Cell, knowing he could not defeat him. He knew then that Gohan had more potential power than any of the other Z fighters. It took a bit of pain for it to come out, but when it did, Gohan reached Super Saiyan 2 before anyone else and then had the power to defeat Cell. That moment when Gohan snaps and becomes SSJ2 with the lightning all around him is epic. That's getting me right there in the feels.

Krillin

Krillin

Listen, I'm going to be frank. I like Krillin. He is one of the strongest, if not THE strongest Earthling's in the entire show. He's proven himself to not be a coward when the time is necessary, he's been an essential ally to all of the Z fighters, and he is Goku's best friend. When Frieza killed Krillin, it made Goku snap to become a Super Saiyan. He's been key to a lot of the story. However, when it comes down to it, he just doesn't have the gusto like all of these other characters. He doesn't get new forms (Earthling, remember?), he doesn't change up many of his techniques - though he increased the power of his disctructo disk and solar flare. I mean, one of the best things Krillin did was marry Android 18! Which, you gotta admit, is pretty badass. There are no fancy buttons to click on for Krillin because he doesn't change much over the series. Yes, sometimes he has hair, or a mustache, but we're going for badass here, not... weird.
